Why Should You Help Us Build Internect?

Nothing like this has ever existed.

Never before has so much functionality been integrated into one place that is accessible to everyone on the planet. This makes it significantly easier to connect with, trade with, learn with, and create with people all around us. Internect also brings completely original functionality and creative tools to life that will help people collaborate in ways that seemed impossible before.

We want to help the world.

Internect was created with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the world. By understanding where people struggle most, we’ve designed a platform that empowers individuals to improve their lives and communities. Our goal is to spark new ways of working, trading, and collaborating, helping people thrive while building a better future together.

The platform is just the beginning.

We believe that by helping others, we help ourselves—our philosophy is ‘what we give, we receive.’ Internect is only the first step. We want it to succeed so we can keep improving it while also innovating new solutions for real-world problems. Our mission is to continuously enhance Internect and develop tools that help people thrive.

Who is Internect for?

Problems Internect Will Help Solve

Advertisements

Social media platforms are driven by ads and distractions.

Internect will be ad-free, distraction-free, and designed for meaningful interactions, giving users control over what they see.

Algorithms

Algorithms prioritize engagement over value, creating echo chambers and negativity.

Internect will use a customizable algorithm allowing users to tailor their experience to focus on what truly matters to them.

Personalization

Lack of personalization in profiles.

Internect will offer highly customizable profiles, similar to MySpace in the past, where users can express themselves with unique layouts, colors, and even music or videos.

Fees

Existing marketplaces take high fees and limit trade options.

Internect will offer a low-fee marketplace with multiple trade options, including cryptocurrency, bartering, and traditional payments.

Local Trade

Local communities are often overlooked in global eCommerce platforms.

Internect will encourage local trading, helping users connect with nearby buyers and sellers to support their communities.

Learning

Learning platforms are often limited to specific types of courses and lack real-world collaboration.

Internect will provide a flexible learning platform where anyone can create, sell, or enroll in courses, with built-in collaboration and feedback tools.

Community Courses

Online courses lack engagement and community.

Internect will integrate community-driven features (like group discussions, project collaboration, and voting) to enhance the learning experience.

New Ways to Work

Job scarcity and lack of diverse income opportunities.

Internect will create new ways to earn through its marketplace, educational platform, and project creation tools, empowering users to make a living doing what they love.

Monetization

People struggle to monetize their skills and passions.

Internect will provide tools for users to sell products, services, subscriptions, and digital goods, making it easier to turn passions into income.

Resource-based Trading

Over-reliance on money as the only means of exchange.

Internect will facilitate bartering and resource-based trading, giving users more flexibility in how they transact.

Project Collaboration

Starting and managing community projects is difficult without proper tools.

Internect will provide project management tools for creating, joining, and collaborating on community projects, featuring voting, resource pooling, and goal setting.

Voting

Community ideas often get lost due to lack of visibility and support.

Internect will use a voting system to surface the best ideas, ensuring that valuable projects receive attention and resources.

Online Trust

Users find it difficult to trust online platforms and other users.

Internect will promote trust through simple user verification (e.g., verified billing address or license scanning) without compromising privacy.

Accountability

Bad actors and spam are prevalent on many platforms.

Internect will maintain a reward and accountability system, where positive contributions are rewarded, and harmful behavior is discouraged.

Unification

Too many disconnected tools lead to inefficiency.

Internect will combine social media, marketplace, learning, and project management into one seamless platform, reducing the need to switch between multiple apps.

Conscious Creation

Online platforms often encourage passive consumption rather than active creation.

Internect will focus on empowering users to create, whether that’s content, projects, or businesses, making it easier for them to contribute meaningfully.

Communication

Communication on existing platforms is often disorganized.

Internect will offer forums, messaging, and live group calls, ensuring users can communicate effectively within communities or projects.

Searches

Finding like-minded people and opportunities can be difficult.

Internect will include tools for finding users by shared interests, skills, or location, helping people connect and collaborate on personal or community initiatives.

Maps

Platforms lack tools for discovering local opportunities.

Internect will feature an interactive map to help users discover nearby projects, trades, groups, events, and more.

Focused Engagement

Current platforms encourage constant engagement, leading to burnout.

Internect will focus on purpose-driven engagement, where users can focus on meaningful activities without the pressure of endless scrolling or notifications.

Intuitive Controls

Users feel overwhelmed by too much content and too many options.

Internect will offer a streamlined, intuitive experience, where users can easily filter content and control what they see.

Frequently Asked Questions

Internect is much more than a social media platform. In fact, we prefer to call it an all-in-one community platform.

Internect will provide many community tools that go far beyond what social media provides. On Internect, you will be able to

  • Trade with your friends through your profile in many different ways (ways that even go beyond other marketplace platforms such as by allowing bookable services, selling subscriptions, auctions and even allowing cryptocurrency).
  • Create in-depth educational courses using all of the modern tools of other learning management systems, and this is again integrated in with your social account.
  • The other big thing Internect will provide (in the launch of Internect 1.0) is projects. We envision communities using project creation tools to work together on anything and everything, bringing people together locally and across the world in ways no other platform has ever done.
  • Besides trade, education, and project management, we want to pack in as many other useful tools as we can for everyone, while keeping it all intuitive and easy to use. For example, we will give you cloud storage built directly into your profile/groups so that you can share large files with anyone easily. Another example is allowing instant, live group calls, so users can jump into calls easily and see each other face to face.

All of these tools are amazing individually, but what really makes them shine on Internect is that they are all integrated seamlessly together. They are not isolated islands, but are instead interconnected in a way where when you build up in one area, it benefits every other area as well. The power that unifying many different functionalities together in one place provides is something we’ve never seen anywhere else, and that’s exactly why we want to make Internect a reality. We feel it can help everyone in many different ways.

No, we currently have no funding. This is why we are currently asking for donations to help keep us afloat as we work on sharing Internect as widely as possible.

Once we have what feels like a sufficient following, we will launch a Kickstarter. The Kickstarter is already built. We just want enough people following the project ahead of time to ensure that the Kickstarter is successful. But advertising, marketing, and creating a buzz around Internect takes time as well, so we appreciate your donations to support us during this critical time!

Crowdfunding is the ideal way to raise money for Internect, because Internect is all about community collaboration and working together! We want the public to feel like Internect is community-driven even in its birth and development. It not only makes for a great story, but it also keeps the platform out of the hands of super rich mega corporations. We’re average every day people just like you and we’re building this out of our tiny two bedroom townhouse just scraping by. We need help from the world to keep this project going and to get it to the finish line. We will NEVER sell out or let Internect be used for anything but humanitarian purposes.

Internect will have a free forever plan. Though it is free, users can sell products, services, courses, and more. Similar to Etsy, Internect will take a percentage (around 6.5% + $0.20) on every sale made. About 3% of this has to go directly to credit card companies, another percentage to hosting, and the remainder will be the primary revenue stream of Internect which will fund further development and pay the salaries of our staff. We will also have an optional paid membership that unlocks a few (non-essential) perks or functionalities (like increased storage space). The paid plan will not affect users’ visibility in anyway. There may be an option to pay to be seen on the front page or other specific “featured” areas of the site as well, but this will be nothing like sponsored content on other sites like Amazon. Streams and archives (like the shop page or courses page) will never have sponsored content or advertisements inserted in them, because we want people to be seen based on merit, not wallet size.

We prioritize transparency and user control when it comes to data. We will collect personal information that users provide, such as names, addresses, preferences, and usage data. This information will be used solely to improve the platform and enhance user experiences—we will never sell user data or share it with third parties for profit. All data will be encrypted and stored securely on Rapyd.Cloud servers, which are managed by a trusted third party. If a data breach occurs, we are committed to informing users promptly through the platform and email, along with providing clear guidance on how to protect their accounts.

Users will have complete control over their data, with the ability to view, download, or delete it at any time. They can also customize their privacy settings, opting out of certain types of data collection and controlling how their information is shared within the platform. Sensitive information is deleted when accounts are closed, except for anonymized usage data retained to improve the platform.

As the platform grows, we will bring all data management in-house to ensure even greater security and privacy. Any significant changes to how we manage data will be communicated transparently, and users will have the opportunity to review and consent to those updates. By safeguarding user data and using it only to create a better experience, Internect is committed to building trust and empowering our community.

We have no immediate plans of doing anything with AI. As Internect is designed to be a humanitarian platform, AI simply has not come up as something missing from the human equation. That being said, we are not against A.I. We simply have no plans for it.

Internect believes it is up to all of us to sort out our problems together. We want to promote an environment in which users can self-regulate and deal with problematic users on their own, rather than forcing everyone to rely on a central agency to police everyone (who might set rules not everyone agrees with). We will promote such an environment in a few different ways:

  1. Keeping users accountable by verifying every account. By simply verifying accounts, we feel harmful content, violence, defamation, and misinformation will be significantly reduced, because users will not be able to hide behind anonymity (this also will greatly reduce spam, trolling, etc). We will have designated areas where anonymous public posting is allowed, but this will be done in a way that everyone knows it is anonymous, so there is no confusion about the user being someone else. When harmful content is posted anonymously, Internect can still see their identity and take action if necessary.
  2. We will give you the tools to manage, filter, and police other users yourself. These tools include:
    1. The ability to block others (which will be far more effective since users will not be able to easily create countless new accounts)
    2. Review others in various ways (in Internect 1.0). Once records are implemented into the platform, users will be able to filter out other users based on records. For example, anyone who has over a certain percentage of negative reviews, or anyone who has been reported a certain number of times. Records will allow a natural, organic form of policing for everyone, where users will not want to accumulate negative records on their account in fear of their visibility being reduced.
  3. Finally, you will also be able to report harmful content, and Internect will step in if we deem it to be harmful. We can restrict accounts, or ban them outright, and prevent users from creating new accounts with their identity.

To be clear, we will not be the information police. We want to create a platform where you feel like you can discuss any topic or idea at all. We will only restrict misinformation that is directly harmful or defamatory. You control the rest.

We want to promote freedom of information as much as possible, while simultaneously giving you full control over what you see. Again, rather than censoring and policing everyone under a blanket universal law, we will allow you to set your own laws. The only laws we will enforce are those set by your local laws. If you live in a place where something is not legally allowed, then we cannot show it to you.

We will likely create designated areas for adult (or “NSFW”) content which will not be shown by default but can be enabled in your account if you are 18 or older. Users will be able to tag their own posts as NSFW (or more likely under a sub category such as “violent”, “sexual”, etc). If they fail to tag their posts correctly, others can tag it for them, and a record will be created for their account about their failure to tag content appropriately, which others can use to filter them out automatically if they choose.

These personal customization options will likely come in Internect 1.0. Due to limits in our staff early on, we need a simpler solution we can unroll immediately. Therefore Internect Beta will simply restrict all adult content until we can create the appropriate tags and controls.
